Working Papers applications are online at MyWorkingPapers.NJ.gov. Employers hiring teenagers must register online to receive a unique 8-digit code and share that code with every minor they intend to hire. The potential hire can then visit the website to create an account and start their working papers application, entering the employer's unique code. Caregivers must review the details of the job and provide proof of the minor's age. The NJ Department of Labor will notify the business once the application is approved.

Message from our SAC (Student Assistance Counselor)

  • Information on Fentanyl
    • Over 90% of drugs confiscated in NJ from 2023-2025 have tested positive for fentanyl.  A study released in May 2025 confirmed that this highly potent and dangerous drug was the most common illicit substance found in seized drugs/drug paraphernalia.  Street fentanyl is so potent that only 2 mg is lethal.  Fentanyl is also transdermal, meaning, if you, a child, or loved one were to accidentally pick up or touch something that unknowingly contains fentanyl, it could enter your body through your skin and still be lethal.

    • As drug use, especially marijuana, nicotine and alcohol, becomes less talked about and widely used among teens and adolescents, it is crucial to understand the dangers they still face.  Having conversations about drug use can play such an important role in families.  If you're unsure on how to have or to start these conversations, please feel free to reach out to the SAC or visit https://nida.nih.gov/research-topics/parents-educators/conversation-starters for some resources and ideas.
